Handler to "present" the obstacle to the the equine who must acknowledge the obstacle by touching it with his nose.
2. Narrow Gap
Handler to "send" the equine through the gap, handler to remain outside of the obstacle, maintaining their leading position using a relaxed rope.
Handler to halt at the entrance and step in front, facing the equine. Handler to walk backwards, helping the equine to negotiate the turns. Handler may step out of the poles but the equine should not. Halt and regain leading position at the exit.
The weave must be entered through the "off" (right) shoulder.
The handler to remain outside of the obstacle walking in a straight line, directing the equine around the cones.
Both handler and equine to pass under the arch calmly and confidently together, halt when the equines ears are through, before the withers, step in front of the equine and ask to back up 4 strides, regain leading position and continue, maintaining the correct leading position, using a relaxed rope.
6. Perfect Partners.
Halt at A. Breathe, Soften, Connect - Proceed to B. - small steps slowly. Equine to show a shortened stride. Halt at B. Breathe, Soften, Connect. Proceed to C. - Long synchronized steps slowly. Equine should show a lengthened stride. At C. Halt. Remaining in the leading position and next to the equine, back up 4 strides. Proceed.
7. Chaotic Corridor.
Both handler and equine to pass through calmly and confidently together, maintaining the correct leading position, using a relaxed rope.
Both handler and equine to walk over the Tarp, calmly and confidently together, when all 4 feet are on the tarp - halt - 4 seconds - proceed maintaining the correct leading position, using a relaxed rope.
9. Gate, halt and wait.
Handler to halt the equine in front of the gate.
Open the gate - right to left and hook it back, or drop to the ground.
The handler to step through the gate and face the equine.
Show immobility and put a "smile" (relax and give) in the rope.
The equine must remain standing still,
The handler must then "invite" the equine through. Turn the equine so you are both facing the direction you came from.
Close the gate.
Handler and equine to halt in front of the podium.
Handler to step onto the podium and face the equine.
Handler to step backwards off, still facing the equine.
Handler to "invite" the equine to step up and onto the podium.
Front feet only - show immobility.
Handler to step forwards towards the equine and ask him to gently step back and down.
